Further to yesterday's update, Aurizon has today been advised of a revised schedule of proposed industrial action by the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Drivers (AFULE) in Queensland.
The key change is that the previous notification for the 24 hour stoppage for coal and freight depots from 12 noon on Sunday, 22 February has been withdrawn.
New notifications have been submitted for a 24 hour stoppage at the coal depots from 12 noon on Sunday, 22 February, as well as a 24 hour stoppage at freight depots from 12 noon on Monday, 23 February.
We are disappointed that the unions have taken this approach when we have always been willing to negotiate over a fair deal for employees. This industrial action is avoidable and unnecessary in the current economic environment, causing significant disruption to our customers and the broader economy.
Over the coming days we will be considering our options in terms of a response and working closely with our customers and stakeholders to mitigate any impacts if the proposed actions do proceed.
