The Moura coal rail corridor, which suffered significant infrastructure damage during Cyclone Marcia in February, will re-open tomorrow (18 March).
The re-opening is earlier than the estimated recovery schedule of the end of the month.
"Aurizon work teams, together with a number of contractors, have done an outstanding job in completing the recovery," said Alex Kummant, Aurizon's Executive Vice President, Network.
"This has been one of the largest infrastructure recovery jobs since the 2011 floods in Queensland, with work across 20 major sites including a track realignment and rebuild at Bell's Creek. The fact it was achieved in difficult conditions and without safety incident goes to the heart of the terrific capability of our people."
Train services for coal customers on the corridor are expected to re-commence early on 19 March.
