Operational impacts of Cyclone Marcia and update on intended industrial action
Operational update:
North Coast Line - Infrastructure owner Queensland Rail has closed the corridor between Brisbane and Mackay. Rail services remain suspended.
Blackwater and Moura Systems - Rail services remain suspended. Aurizon is inspecting track prior to resumption of services.
Goonyella System – services have been running since Hay Point Port resumed in-loading operations on Friday 20 February.
Newlands System - the network remains open and Abbott Point Coal Terminal is continuing to unload trains.
UPDATE – INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Late on 20 February, Aurizon was advised by the RTBU that they intend to take additional protected industrial action comprising a 24 hour stoppage at the coal depots of Callemondah, Stanwell and Bluff from 1200 hours on 26 February to 1200 hours on 27 February.
We have also been advised by the AFULE that they are withdrawing the proposed 24 hour stoppage that was scheduled for Callemondah, Stanwell and Bluff Depots from midday on 22 February. At this stage stoppages will continue at the other depots outlined below.
While we welcome any cancellations we call on both unions to withdraw all action and stop hurting our employees customers and our company. The wet weather is already causing significant disruption and we ask that the unions put our employees and customers first and cancel this unnecessary industrial action.
The following notifications from the unions remain current:
Friday, 20 February
The RTBU intend to undertake a 24 hour stoppage at Pring depot commencing at 0001 on 20 February and concluding at 0001 on 21 February.
Sunday, 22 February
The AFULE intend to undertake a 24 hour stoppage at the coal depots of Jilalan, Coppabella and Pring. This stoppage will commence at 1200 hours on 22February and conclude at 1200 hours on 23 February.
The AFULE intend to undertake an indefinite overtime ban at the Goondiwindi depot commencing at 1200 hours on 22 February.
Monday, 23 February
The AFULE intend to undertake a 24 hour stoppage at the freight depots of Fishermans Island, Acacia Ridge, Townsville, Rockhampton, Emerald, Maryborough, Mackay, Longreach, Roma, Charleville, Toowoomba and Goondiwindi. Please note AER employees are ineligible to participate in this stoppage. This stoppage will commence at 1200 hours on 23February and conclude at 1200 hours on 24 February.
The RTBU intend to undertake a 24 hour stoppage at Coppabella and Jilalan depots commencing at 0001 hours on 23February and concluding at 0001 hours on 24February.
Thursday, 26 February
The RTBU intend to undertake a 24 hour stoppage at the coal depots of Callemondah, Stanwell and Bluff. This stoppage will commence at 1200 hours on 26 February and conclude at 1200 hours on 27 February.
We will continue to work closely with potentially affected customers over coming days to mitigate any impacts if the proposed actions do proceed.
