Fair Work Commission approves Train Crew and Transport Operations Agreement
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) today approved Aurizon's final outstanding Enterprise Agreement (EA), the Aurizon Train Crew and Transport Operations EA.
The approval by the FWC will finalise the EA, which covers approximately 1,700 employees in Queensland and will come into effect from 10 September 2015.
Employees will receive a 4% pay rise annually for three years along with more contemporary employment conditions that will underpin significant productivity and efficiency improvements at Aurizon.
This follows the approval of the Aurizon Construction and Maintenance EA on 21 August, and the Aurizon Staff EA which was approved and implemented in January this year.
As a result of the three EA approvals, approximately 5,000 Queensland based employees will be rewarded with pay increases and competitive conditions, while providing Aurizon with the productivity enhancements and workplace flexibility that the Company needs to sustain and grow its business.
In a separate development, the Federal Court today in Melbourne dismissed an appeal by rail unions on the Order of the Fair Work Commission (made in April 2015) to terminate Aurizon's expired enterprise agreements in Queensland. Aurizon welcomes the certainty provided by the Federal Court decision and will continue with implementation of recently-approved agreements.
