Aurizon donates $25,000 to the Esperance Fire Appeal
Australia's largest rail-based transport operator, Aurizon has donated $25,000 to the Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund following the fatal bush fires in Esperance, Western Australia.
Aurizon is one of the largest local employers with more than 120 employees based in Esperance and more than 900 employees in Western Australia.
A large number of Aurizon employees are volunteer firefighters and took part in local efforts to protect people and property from the recent devastating fires.
Managing Director & CEO, Lance Hockridge said the donation will go towards people who have been affected by this disaster in assisting them to rebuild their lives.
"It is devastating for the community that these fires have claimed four lives and caused significant damage throughout the region," he said.
"Aurizon is pleased to play a part in the community recovery efforts and this donation will provide some relief to those who have been touched by this tragedy.
"Aurizon is committed to assisting local communities in Western Australia where we operate and where our employees reside."
