Aurizon scooped two awards at the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) Inclusion & Diversity Awards in Melbourne.
The awards celebrate outstanding organisations and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in the contributions they have made in inclusion and diversity practices.
The first award for 'Gender equity in the workplace' recognised the progress we are making in striving to build a collaborative and diverse workforce. Currently, the percentage of women in our workforce is just over 14%, and while we have made solid progress over the past 18 months, we still have a long way to go.
The judges commended the programs and initiatives we have implemented to attract women to Aurizon and retain, develop and transition our women through their career with the Company.
The second award for 'Diversity Champion CEO' recognised the efforts of our Managing Director & CEO Lance Hockridge as a diversity champion, inspiring change through his passionate leadership and genuine commitment to make a difference.
Lance has become a diversity advocate in the broader business environment working to advance gender equality.
In 2013, Lance joined the Queensland Male Champions of Change. This movement recognises the significant role that CEOs have in achieving more gender balanced leadership in Australia.
