About the role:
Aurizon is seeking motivated individuals to join our Freight Operator (Rail Shunter) Traineeship in West Kalgoorlie. This is your chance to build a long-term career in rail with Australia’s largest freight operator. As a trainee, you’ll undergo a structured training program that will see you issued with a nationally recognised qualification in rail operations (shunting), while working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
Please note as part of Aurizon’s recruitment process you will be required to undergo testing and pre-employment checks including a pre-employment health assessment.
• Completing both theoretical and practical training components
• Loading and unloading customer products safely and efficiently
• Inspecting rolling stock for faults and performing minor repairs
• Conducting brake testing on trains
• Communicating effectively with depot personnel via two-way radio and in-person
• Assisting with shunting and marshalling of trains
About you:
We're looking for individuals with -
• A C Class Drivers Licence (mandatory)
• A strong commitment to safety
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A willingness to work day & night shifts (up to 12hr shifts) including weekend work as required
