About the role:

Aurizon is seeking an experienced Employee Relations (ER) Specialist to join our People and Development team. As part of the People Advisory team, you will provide considered and expert ER support across the business, offering advice and coaching to leaders on performance and conduct management matters. You will play a critical role in building leader capability in through leading and supporting various internal leadership programs such as Conduct Management, and Respectful Workplace Behaviours, in addition to the execution of other strategic initiatives.

This is a national role which may require travel from time to time.  The role requires someone with demonstrated experience in building strong relationships with stakeholders (at all levels), based on credibility, values alignment, and business acumen to effectively deliver to business needs and priorities.

In this role you will:
 

  • Coach, support, and at times lead, complex employee relations performance and conduct matters, providing leaders with expert ER advice;
  • Provide company advocacy services for disciplinary matters at relevant tribunals or commissions;
  • Coach and uplift leader capability to build high performing teams based on trust and engagement, in support of the leader led people model;
  • Support the execution of the People Services & Strategy strategic priorities in accordance with the Performance & Development strategic plan;
  • Engage with Legal team, preparing briefs as required;
  • Play a key role in coaching and uplifting the capability of the team of ER Advisors;
  • Drive continuous improvements within the People Advisory services including development of tools, templates, processes and training for performance and conduct matters which serve to enable leaders in their people management responsibilities

About you: 

  • Demonstrated ER experience with a good understanding of Australian employment law and practices.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experienced)
  • Advocacy experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively coach others and uplift capability.
  • Exceptional ability to provide both verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively.
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to have challenging and difficult conversations with integrity and credibility.
  • The ability to interpret and advise on complex industrial instruments.
