About the role:
Aurizon is currently seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Controller & Treasurer division. This role is a blend of financial and fixed asset accounting, with a focus on continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team and take on a rewarding role that will grow your experience. Key responsibilities include:
- Completion of month end close processes, including processing or reviewing transactions, completion or review of balance sheet reconciliations and follow up of issues.
- Support the team lead in balance sheet, working capital and cashflow analysis, reporting and forecasting for the consolidated group and for operating business units.
- Preparation of financial accounting compliance activities and preparation or review of data for half year end and year end audits and external reporting.
- Maintain the integrity of the group’s fixed asset registers, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of transactions for both accounting and tax purposes. Ensure adherence to governance standards. Review fixed asset transactions, reports and reconciliations.
- Review existing fixed asset master data, enhance master data standards, identify master data issues and coordinate activities to enhance data quality.
- Manage the completion and reporting of rolling fixed asset stock counts.
- Actively engage with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in general accounting and fixed asset policies, procedures and automation tools.
About you:
- Finance-related tertiary qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar role within a large corporate environment.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and build strong relationships.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work to achieve results.
- Ability to provide clear, succinct, and persuasive verbal and written information.
- Ability to challenge processes, outcomes, and priorities, and work collaboratively to achieve consensus results.
- Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP
