About the position:
This role will see you providing frontline leadership to the operational staff (Locomotive Drivers, Operational Coordinators & Freight Operators), as well as local customer engagement in order to ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of train services for our customers.
- Champion and promote Aurizon’s “We know safe, We choose safe” approach
- Ensure the team’s ongoing compliance to local legislative WHS requirements, through consistent execution of Aurizon's safety strategy, including incident investigations when required.
- Build positive workplace relationships with the team providing engaged leadership including setting and monitoring of performance standards, development and behavioural standards.
- Ability to engage with team members at all levels and utilise your relationships to achieve operational KPIs and efficiencies.
- Execute local strategies to support Operational Excellence with the goal of continuous improvement in order to reduce asset cycle times and improve service payloads.
- Manage and ownership of the crewing requirements, as well as recruitment to support the provision of services.
- Identify opportunities for most efficient operations and customer delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer contacts ensuring the lines of communication are always open, as well as identifying opportunities for growth.
About you:
- CERT IV/Diploma in Frontline Management (preferred)
- Experience in a Supervisory or leadership role within a complex supply chain environment.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, scheduling
- High customer service focus, excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders on all levels.
- Well-developed safety management skills and knowledge, including incident investigation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including task assignment, communication and problem solving.
- Ability to effectively engage team members, establish and sustain relationships, set clear direction and provide coaching.
- Detailed understanding, or capacity to learn, train handling and provisioning procedures, network route knowledge, safe working systems and personnel deployment practices.
- Customer relationship management skills
- Proven commercial acumen.
