About the role:

Reporting to the Regional Operations Leader, this critical role will be responsible for the daily operations of Aurizon Cloncurry Container Terminal by providing safe, efficient and customer focused solutions, including the management of machine operators, contractors, and customers. Aurizon Cloncurry Depot runs on a 24/7 operation, and you will be required to provide quality service in leading process and people to deliver to our customers. This role will see you:

  • Champion a safety culture based on values and principles by achieving and implementing all safety standards, systems, and initiatives to a standard of excellence.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the end-to-end operational requirements of the Cloncurry Container Terminal facilities.
  • Provide coaching, support, and leadership to employees to assist in achieving performance objectives.
  • Ensure capacity management is provided as defined by customer agreements and maintain Aurizon performance reporting for the precinct ensuring Customer obligations are achieved.
  • Supervise and assist local incident management and undertake investigations as they arise within the operational environments.
  • Plan and manage resources to ensure the Container Terminal operations meet customer demand.

About you: 

  • Previous frontline leadership experience in a large-scale logistics or heavy industrial organisation, materials handling site or similar is advantageous
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with diverse work groups
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimise business processes
  • Extensive knowledge of the Safety Management System and standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrated experience in planning day of operation activities.
  • Highly effective communicator with excellent interpersonal, consultation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in the use of information technology and systems, focussing on monitoring, recording, and reporting systems.
  • Cert IV qualification in Frontline Management, Bachelor of Business or similar would be highly regarded.
