About the Role:

Due to internal movement, Aurizon is seeking a highly experienced Finance Commercial Lead to join our team. In this role, you will provide expert analysis and advice to support key decisions, delivering actionable recommendations to drive superior operational, commercial, and financial outcomes. Your insights will be crucial in fostering business growth and improvement; maximising value across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Improvement Initiatives: Identify and assist in the implementation of initiatives that enhance business performance, driving both operational and financial improvements.
  • Lead Reporting & Analysis: Manage the distribution of relevant reporting and analysis to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. Play a central role in complex negotiations, using your influence to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Project Management: Oversee business improvement project activities, ensuring they are delivered on scope, within budget, and to the required standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Analyse and manage performance against business plans, make informed decisions, and resolve incidents effectively to support business objectives.
  • Business Optimisation: Provide expertise in identifying opportunities to maximise value and minimise risk, driving continuous improvement across the enterprise.
  • Value-Added Analysis: Synthesise market and business research to develop options that will maximise commercial returns and deliver impactful insights to the business.
  • Training & Development: Provide relevant training and development to managers, teams, and employees, building enterprise capability and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

About You:

  • Educational Background: You hold a relevant tertiary degree.
  • Commercial Experience: You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a commercial role, with a proven ability to deliver valuable business insights.
  • Analytical Skills: You possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of executing multiple complex analyses simultaneously to provide commercially valuable solutions.
  • Communication Skills: You excel in interpersonal, oral, and written communication, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: You have extensive experience managing projects or programs, with a track record of successfully integrating new processes and initiatives into core business activities.
  • Leadership & Coaching: You have significant experience in coaching and developing others, building effective, collaborative, and professional relationships.
  • Stakeholder Management: You develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, supporting the achievement of business objectives.
