Aurizon is expanding nationwide, and our high-performing legal team is seeking up to 3 talented Legal Counsels to provide commercially driven legal advice across a range of exciting focus areas. If you're looking for a dynamic in-house legal role, this is your chance to make an impact! 

About the Roles: 

As a Legal Counsel at Aurizon, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with legal professionals across various practice areas. We're looking for candidates to support our growing operations with expertise in one of the following areas: 

1. Property, Land Tenure & Infrastructure 
   Deliver legal advice on property, land tenure, real estate, and infrastructure projects. You will focus on leasing, licensing, and commercial contracting across state and freehold land. 

2. Commercial & Operational Legal Support 
   Provide legal support on commercial contracts, procurement, and strategic initiatives across Aurizon’s diverse operations. This includes revenue contracting, customer relationships, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. 

3. Corporate & Employment Law 
   Advise on corporate advisory, employment law, procurement, safety, and environmental matters, supporting Aurizon’s business units in meeting legal and regulatory obligations. 

This is not an exhaustive list of position responsibilities. Specific duties may vary over time and the successful candidate will be supported where necessary to undertake any new tasks.  In all roles, you'll draft, review, and negotiate contracts, interact with external legal advisors, and contribute to initiatives that enhance business efficiency. 

What You’ll Bring: 

• Admitted to practice as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland with a current practicing certificate. 

• Ideally a maximum of 2 to 8+ years’ post-admission experience, with exposure to inhouse legal practices in corporate environments or leading law firms. 

• Strong communication skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage matters independently. and experience working to deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment. 

• A ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to work across multiple legal areas. 

• While not essential, a sound background and exposure to the transportation, mining or commodities industries will be highly regarded.
