About the role:

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to work across multiple business areas within Aurizon based in our Hexham office, Newcastle. This exciting role will see you directly involved in identifying, analysing and implementing major operational improvements across the entire Hunter Valley and South-East Queensland supply chains.

  • Partner with cross functional business units to design, develop and implement operational projects.
  • Use data and analytics to determine operating mode improvements and communicate those with the business.
  • Manage large scale change projects across functions and supply chains.
  • Be part of a creative team to design new ways of working to ensure Aurizon remains a sustainable business.
  • Drive and maintain effective working relationships with customers and internal and external clients.
  • Drive collaboration across functions and regions to ensure consistent application of operational efficiencies.

About you:

  • You will have 5+ years of operational experience (e.g. rostering, crew management, live run, logistics - rail specific operational experience not required)
  • Easily build relationships with all levels of the business
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Ability to effortlessly form partnerships, influence, and work in collaboration with stakeholders across all levels of Aurizon.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate curiosity in understanding business problems and work with teams to identify and implement innovative solutions.
  • You are confident with negotiation and management of push-back.
  • Able to work with operational and technical teams and travel to site as required.
  • Sound ability to analyse complex matters and communicate discoveries to stakeholders and senior leadership teams.
  • Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple projects, initiatives, and meet deadlines and budgets.
  • PowerBI and/or R-Studio experience will be highly regarded.
