About the Role:

Aurizon’s Containerised Freight division is growing, and we're seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the development of a new Perth-based rail and containerised freight terminal. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring it meets objectives related to scope, time, cost, quality, and the delivery of planned benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning: Develop a comprehensive project management plan, including sections on scope, cost, schedule, and quality management. Establish a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), budget, and schedule baselines as required.
  • Project Execution: Manage, monitor, and control all project activities in line with the project management plan and relevant functional, operational, and legal requirements.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to the Program Director, Program Manager, Senior Management, and other stakeholders, with a focus on identifying and addressing any variations in cost, time, or quality.
  • Project Closure: Finalise projects on completion, which may include asset transfers, closing financial systems, and conducting project audits.
  • Support: Assist in managing discipline-specific projects, participating in forums, and monitoring resource requirements as needed.

About You:

  • Qualifications: A degree in Engineering, Business, Construction, IT, or Project Management is preferred, along with industry-recognized certifications in Project Management.
  • Experience: You bring over 10 years of experience in developing, planning, and delivering construction or infrastructure development related projects, with at least 5 years in a Project Management capacity.
  • Project Management Expertise: You possess a high level of skill in managing large-scale, complex projects within substantial organisations.
  • Methodologies & Tools: Your extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and structures is complemented by your ability to apply them effectively.
  • Relationship Building: You have a talent for developing common goals and fostering strong relationships between senior managers, key stakeholders, and operational staff.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Your high-level interpersonal skills include expertise in communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and influencing, all of which are critical for sustaining productive relationships.
  • Problem Solving: You are adept at analysing, interpreting, and solving problems in high-stress, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environments.
