About the role: We are seeking a self-motivated and customer focused commercial professional to work within our Aurizon Network Customer team for 12 months.

Customer and externally orientated, you will have the opportunity to work with every part of the Aurizon business, supporting the commercial management of customer infrastructure projects and new business opportunities within the Central Queensland rail network. You will be well versed in your customers’ contracts and their operations to best respond to their project requirements.

You will be constantly learning and enjoy working with every part of the business to provide mutually beneficial outcomes for your customers and Aurizon Network. Working with Aurizon Network’s customers, you will:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain trusted customer relationships.
  • Manage customer infrastructure project enquiries and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Draft and conduct effective negotiations of contracts and commercial arrangements and, assist in the commercial implementation of those contracts as required.
  • Assist in developing and drafting proposals and relevant business cases.
  • Develop and execute customer account management plans, including negotiating and securing new business opportunities.
  • Anticipate customer needs and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Build and maintain exceptional relationships across all functions in Aurizon communicate customer requirements, issues, and opportunities to interdependent teams.

About you:

Ideally, we are seeking an applicant that has a strong background in stakeholder and contract management/administration, high level engagement, negotiation and communication skills and someone that can see the big picture and be driven by achieving outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills including negotiation, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Financial literacy and commercial acumen with the capacity to analyse data for problem solving (data collection, organisation, analysis, interpretation, presentation).
  • Contract/legal drafting and contract management skills.
  • Customer centric mindset with high level skills in the identification, specification and delivery of customer service in a large commercial organisation
  • Experience in an infrastructure, utility or rail logistics business, and / or exposure to a regulated commercial environment will be highly regarded.
