About the role:

Aurizon’s Bulk East business is looking for an additional Technical Specialist (Train Operations) to be based at our Mt Isa depot. You will investigate and manage the development of endorsed standards and procedures for train operations and train handling. 

About the role:

  • Leading the identification and implementation of optimum driving methodologies and process improvement plans to deliver efficiency across a range of technical processes withing the supply chain.
  • Leading the development and implementation of operations standards to deliver safe and efficient supply chain operations.
  • Leading development and implementation of operational standards to deliver safe and efficient supply chain operations.
  • Utilising simulation and train data analysis tools to assist in decision making.
  • Continually improving the technical capability and knowledge of operational stakeholders to enhance and manage standards with the supply chain.
  • Collaborating with relevant operations leaders to develop coaching and improvement plans where competency gaps are identified and addressed.
  • Demonstrating alignment to current best practice operational methodologies to enable improvements and align to industry progression.
  • Operating mobile plant and/or rail traffic to build and maintain knowledge and competency as required. 
  • Ensuring new standards and practices are embedded in the relevant management systems.
  • Collaborating with peers in the other regions to ensure best practice processes are shared and adopted.
  • Undertaking reviews and investigations, conducting research, and preparing comprehensive and accurate reports on operational activities or incidents.
  • Developing regular compliance and performance reports that detail the effectiveness of operations and facility standards.

 

About you: 

  • Train Driver qualifications and experience (mandatory).
  • Experience operating terminal plant and equipment would be highly regarded.
  • Terminal and faculty operations experience would be highly regarded.
  • High level leadership and interpersonal skills which encourage participation, teamwork, trust, and continual learning.
  • Sound investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of experience and skill in operating relevant facility plant and or rail traffic operations.
  • Experience and knowledge in relevant operational facilities.
  • High level oral and written communication skills.
  • Substantial knowledge of safety management systems, isolation, and lockout standards.
  • Substantial skills in developing, implementing and promoting strategies which improve operational performance in meeting commercial, legal and safety objectives.
