About the role:

Reporting to the Logistics Leader this role is responsible for coordinating the container terminal crew and yard operations to ensure productive and cost-effective deployment of resources to ensure a high level of customer service. This is a Perth based role working 12hr shifts on an even time 7 days on 7 days off roster.

Duties and Critical Deliverable of this positions include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage processes, systems and procedures related to the effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Assist the Logistics Leader in managing people related activities e.g., performance management, discipline matters, reward, and recognition.
  • Provide advice, coaching and support to employees to assist in achieving performance objectives.
  • Coordinate all resources at the relevant terminal to provide an elevated level of customer service and to meet business requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate the allocation, utilisation, and deployment of resources to meet all operational and customer needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective and timely working relationships with internal/external clients to ensure requirements/expectations are met.
  • Coordinate all staff and subcontractor activities as required.
  • Ensure Dangerous Goods Management in accordance with regulations, including documentation and handling requirements.
  • Schedule regular maintenance checks of terminal plant and equipment and follow up to ensure set maintenance standards are achieved.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other relevant teams to achieve business objectives and optimise resources available.
  • Ensure Environmental Management Plans and Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) regulations and standards are maintained.
  • Operate Multi Combination vehicles and lifting equipment as required.

 

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

  • Previous line experience in large scale logistics or heavy industrial organisation.
  • Substantial organisational skills to effectively coordinate operations in a team environment.
  • Substantial knowledge of statutory requirements and policy guidelines relevant to the operation.
  • Demonstrated experience to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver value to the customer.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with diverse work groups.
  • Proficient computer skills and use of operational systems.
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively lead teams in a day of operations environment.
  • Substantial level of analytical, decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • High level of communication skills in providing clear and succinct verbal and written information.

Any of the following attributes would be highly regarded:

  • MC licence.
  • CN ticket (reach stacker operating experience).
  • High risk heavy forklift licence.
  • DG licence.
