Aurizon today announced a special round of its Community Giving Fund had been set up to help communities in North Queensland affected by flooding.
Managing Director & CEO Andrew Harding said funds would be targeted at projects and initiatives that help with recovery and rebuilding.
“Many of our employees live and work in this region and we want to play our part in helping the community recover,” Mr Harding said.
“This special round of the Fund will open next week for affected communities between Townsville and Mount Isa.
“A total of $100,000 will be made available and community groups will be invited to apply for funds for initiatives that help with the long-term rebuilding process.
“A lot of the damage may not be able to be assessed yet but as the flood waters recede we know a lot of hard-working charities and community groups in the region will need help.
“Supporting charities and community groups and the important work they do is something we are proud of at Aurizon, and never is it more important than at a difficult time like this.”
