We are proud to be recognised as a leader in corporate reporting on sustainability in a recent report released by the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors.
In the report, ‘Corporate Sustainability Reporting in Australia’, Aurizon was one of 35 companies in the ASX200 that has consistently outperformed in sustainability disclosure, and has reported at a leading level for each of the last four or more consecutive years.
The Australian Council of Superannuation Investors (ACSI) provides a voice on environmental, social and governance issues on behalf of its 38 Australian and international asset owners and institutional investors, who collectively manage more than $2.2 trillion in assets.
In their media release, ACSI CEO Louise Davidson said good quality reporting enables shareholders to make informed investment decisions and the community to judge whether its confidence in companies is well-placed or misplaced.
“We observed an improvement in sustainability reporting over the 12-month period. Thirty-five companies, in particular, have consistently outperformed the index over the past four years,” said Ms Davidson.
“It is evident that there is a core group of pacesetters for good disclosure practices.
“ACSI found that investors favour companies with high disclosure standards. Eighty-three cents in every dollar invested in the ASX200 is invested in entities that report to a ‘Leading’ or ‘Detailed’ rating.”
At Aurizon, we have made a committed effort to be transparent in our approach to sustainability reporting since we launched our inaugural report in 2014. This recognition from ACSI reflects our commitment to address risks that impact our stakeholders and demonstrates our efforts to operate sustainably and responsibly.
We will release our 2018 Sustainability Report in October.
