This is Jaimee, an Operational Maintainer at Aurizon’s Narngulu depot in Western Australia and the winner of our Operational Trainee of the Year Award in 2015.
Jaimee joined Aurizon in 2014 seeking a change from administration work and has since flourished in her new career as an Operational Maintainer.
“No two days are the same in my role and I relish the constant challenges and variety of tasks thrown my way,” Jaimee said.
“I work a roster of 12 hour day and night shifts during which a typical day includes train examinations, shunting, servicing locomotives and unloading trains at the Geraldton Port.
“I enjoy working with my team and using our initiative to resolve problems as they arise and to ensure the most effective operation of the site.”
Jaimee was recognised at Aurizon’s 2015 Excellence Awards for her innovative electricity monitor which significantly reduced power consumption at the Narngulu service delivery facilities.
“Winning the Operational Trainee of the Year Excellence Award was so unexpected and I am very grateful to have been recognised for my contribution to the Company against so many other worthy nominees,” Jaimee said.
“I have been with Aurizon for two years now and in that short amount of time I have achieved so many things I didn't know were even possible.
“Aurizon has made me feel incredibly valued as an employee and I look forward to exploring future growth opportunities with the Company over the coming years”.
