Sarah grew up in Townsville and studied Electrical Engineering there before joining Aurizon as a graduate signalling engineer.
Sarah’s last role in the Company as the Manager of Signalling and Overhead Construction saw her managing a team of approximately 80 people who deliver specialised signalling and overhead construction to improve the reliability and capacity of the network.
She recently accepted a new role as the Service Delivery Manager, Integrated Operating Plan (IOP), Service Delivery Coal Markets based at the Jilalan Rail Yard Complex near Mackay. As part of this role, Sarah will be driving productivity initiatives and efficiency savings as part of Aurizon’s Integrated Operating Plan in the Central Queensland Coal Network.
Sarah and her husband enjoy a number of outdoor activities including water skiing and wakeboarding and living in Mackay offers them some great spots for this.
As part of the CEO Rotation program, Sarah worked with Aurizon’s Managing Director and CEO Lance Hockridge for four months. In this period, she had the opportunity to attend meetings that the CEO was involved in, offering her some good exposure to the different areas of the company, the Board and the investor community.
Aurizon’s CEO Office rotation program provides development opportunities for women to work as Associate Executive Officers with the Managing Director & CEO. They have the opportunity to watch, listen and learn as well as undertake work for him in a variety of areas over a four month period.
