Aurizon’s Community Giving Fund recipients announced
Local charities benefiting from grants provided by Australia’s largest rail freight company
Today, Aurizon announced the recipients for the latest round of its Community Giving Fund.
Managing Director & CEO Andrew Harding said the Giving Fund enables Aurizon and its people to support the important work undertaken by local charities in areas where Aurizon operates.
“This recent round of funding will see grants being distributed to 22 local projects,” Mr Harding said.
“The funding will provide an extra boost for local projects and initiatives that aim to improve community education, safety, environment and health and wellbeing.
“As COVID-19 is still a challenge for so many in our communities, it is pleasing that through these grants we can provide this well-deserved support to a number of meaningful and worthwhile projects.
“With over 85% of Aurizon’s employees living and working in regional areas of Australia, we are delighted to be able to assist these local charities in our area of operations,” he added.
“In North Queensland for example, the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation Inc. will receive funding that will assist with postage and courier costs for books to remote indigenous communities, allowing them to have the appropriate reading materials for their distance education.
“In New South Wales, the Flagstaff Group Limited will receive funding to purchase sensory equipment, develop content, and provide workshops for their HealthAbility program in Wollongong. These resources can be used day to day to assist people living with a disability to develop strategies to cope with COVID changes, emergencies, stressful times or when routines change due to circumstances.
“In Western Australia, Telethon Speech & Hearing Ltd. will receive funding for their Louder, Clearer, Stronger project which supports developmentally vulnerable children in Kwinana that are faced with a number of barriers to access ongoing audiological, speech and language therapies during their formative years.
“We continue to get some fantastic submissions for consideration from so many worthwhile projects and I would like to thank each and every one of those community groups for the time and effort they took to apply.”
