Freight Operator Level 4 (Shunter)

About the Role

As a Freight Operator (Shunter), you will be expected to be available to complete the following Key responsibilities Safely, Competently and as an engaged employee:

• Maintenance and Servicing
• Provisioning and House Keeping
• Performing shunting and yard duties (including cleaning)
• Examining and certifying trains for departure readiness
• Conducting brake tests
• Safely unloading customer products
• Communicating effectively with depot personnel (face-to-face and via two-way radio)

The successful candidate will have consistently demonstrated proactive behaviour and embodied Aurizon’s core values and will play a key role in morale-building and promoting a positive team culture

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Shunt Qualification (mandatory).
• A current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster with shifts up to 12 hours
• Strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service focus
