Aurizon, Australia's largest rail freight operator, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Safety Risk & Improvement Team as a Safety Analyst.   • Diverse Responsibilities: Engage in a variety of tasks including process monitoring, review and improvement, safety risk management, second-line safety assurance activities, contractor safety management, and data analysis, management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Risk & Assurance: Assist in planning and delivery of safety risk and assurance activities, conduct site-based safety assurance activities and support delivery of external audits to achieve the objectives of our enterprise safety assurance plan and safety strategy.
  • Safety Improvement & Compliance: Contribute to the planning, design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide safety improvement activities to meet operational, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Data & Reporting: Support activities which monitor and maintain validity and reliability of safety data and assist in development of periodic and ad-hoc safety assurance and performance reporting.  
  • Collaborative Support: Actively engage with colleagues, including Managers and Principals, to provide support, deliver key services, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability within the Corporate Safety, Health, Environment and Learning team.

About you:

  • Experience: 1 to 2 years post-graduate experience in a Safety, Risk Advisory or Analyst role.
  • Education: Degree-level qualification (in a relevant discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements across all Australian states. Note: Working knowledge of Rail Safety National Law is an advantage
  • Skills: Strong teamwork, stakeholder management, critical thinking, problem solving, and time management skills.
