Regional Operations Manager

Location: Dry Creek, Adelaide

Aurizon's Operations in South Australia are growing and we're looking for an exceptional leader to start up and guide our newest multidisciplinary terminal operation.

In this role, you will be a key player in the Bulk Central leadership team, taking responsibility for regional operations in South Australia.

 

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager Bulk Central, you’ll be accountable for partnering with our customer, managing a third-party contractor while leading operational teams to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable and cost-effective supply chain services.

You will:

  • Lead and implement strategies to sustain a strong safety culture.
  • Inspire and manage a team of Operational Leaders to deliver exceptional people and operations results.
  • Drive superior customer service outcomes through achieving and exceeding operational performance targets.
  • Manage the end-to-end supply chain and full P&L for the region.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and implement plans that harness opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Act to mitigate risks within the region, supporting delivery of strategic goals, whilst ensuring flexibility for future opportunities.
  • Shape and advise on the development and implementation of short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans for the operations.
  • Build and manage internal and external relationships that will enhance the Bulk growth pipeline.

 

About you

An energetic and passionate people leader, you will be driven to deliver a safe, reliable and strong operation that creates value across our diverse customer portfolio. You will be an experienced leader who possesses:

  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience and management of a third-party contractor.
  • Extensive experience of a large scale logistics (supply-chain), resource or heavy industry organisation.
  • High volumes of travel supporting your team of FIFO/DIDO workers' on site.
  • Experience working in a major hazard and regulatory environment where high levels of personal integrity and a reputation for safety leadership is paramount.
  • The ability to influence and facilitate change across diverse work groups.
  • Effective commercial acumen, strategic thinking and business planning skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and engage people in a vision for the future.
  • The ability to analyse data, draw insights and recommend decisions that will achieve or enhance business objectives.
  • Proven capacity to understand how a business can create profit and deliver greatest value.
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team and build relationships for results.
  • Skill in providing clear and succinct information, verbally and written.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills demonstrated across diverse stakeholder groups.
