About the role:

Aurizon is seeking an experienced and qualified Locomotive Driver to join our Berrimah depot in Darwin, Northern Territory. This role will be a mix of local and relay working to Port Augusta, South Australia, which will see you working away from home for up to 5 days at a time.

As a Locomotive Driver with Aurizon - Bulk Central, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating locomotives, ensuring the smooth transport of freight across our extensive rail network. You will work within a supportive, safety-conscious team, striving for operational excellence and maintaining the highest service standards.

About the Role:

  • Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
  • Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.
  • Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of on-time running.
  • Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
  • Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives. 

About you:

  • Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy “I Know Safe, I Choose Safe.”
  • Availability to work a 24/7 shift roster.
  • Experience working with ARTC Code of Practice & Safe Working systems (SA, WA, VIC, NT) is advantageous.
  • Experience operating air brake.
  • Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience.
  • A Certificate IV in Rail Operations.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

The ability to successfully pass pre-employment checks such as driving history checks, reference checks, and a CAT 1 Rail medical is required for these roles. Please note, these positions are not FIFO/DIDO.
