Great opportunity for a safety professional who is interested in gaining experience in a safety partner role that is part of the CQCN Safety Partner team to support business leaders and others to implement safety initiatives and monitor safety performance in line with the Aurizon’s vision and safety goals.

Some duties will include:

  • Work collaboratively with corporate peers to enable alignment between the enterprise and business unit safety activities.
  • Provide safety advice as well as both tactical and process coaching to the business.
  • Support leaders in developing a culture that promotes safety and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate implementation of safety action plans and other improvement initiatives.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver and implement enterprise and business unit initiatives, in compliance with safety change management processes.
  • Undertake governance activities to monitor compliance with appropriate safety and company requirements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety policies, programs and processes, and work in teams to develop and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Provide SHE assurance & due diligence support, including undertaking front-line audits and participating in external audits.
  • Participate, and where required, lead internal investigations into workplace events.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders, where required.
  • Contribute to a high-performance culture through fostering Aurizon's values, meeting Aurizon's performance standards and championing safety initiatives

You are an experienced safety professional, able to influence at and across levels. You can have courageous conversations with frontline leaders, whilst being a trusted advisor to the Depot Leadership team and have proven success in working across a broad stakeholder group to deliver results.

  • A minimum of 4 years plus experience as a safety professional with relevant safety qualifications
  • A background in high-risk industry and critical controls would be desirable.
  • An independent expert on BU safety effectiveness that provides counsel to the operations on what is working well as well as emerging safety concerns within BU.
  • Provide Safety leadership, expertise and coaching to the frontline leadership teams to uplift safety capability.
  • Proven ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels
  • Identify key business challenges /opportunities and collaborate with key corporate partners to design and deliver enterprise solutions.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of risk, programs and processes using agreed measures and provide feedback for improvements to policy/process owners.
  • Contributing to a high-performance culture through fostering Aurizon's values, meeting Aurizon's performance standards and championing culture change initiatives.
