About the role:

Network Controllers are responsible for operating our world-class Train Control systems to deliver safe and efficient train operations, as well as facilitating maintenance on our Network.  They manage, monitor, and report on train operating performance, and respond to unplanned events that occur within the Network.

Network Controllers undertake an in-house training program for approximately 6 months and receive a nationally recognised qualification on completion of the training program. No prior experience is necessary as Aurizon provides a combination of classroom, and on the job training with experienced Network Controllers, Network Coordinators and Superintendents.

We are looking for individuals who can work 9 shifts across a fortnight, on a 24/7 roster, once qualified. Key attributes of a high-performing Network Controller include sustained focus, attention to detail and the ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  The ability to work both individually and as part of the broader Network Control team, with the overall goal of contributing to our safety and team culture, is integral.

  • Safety focused and can apply detailed processes and logic to often complex, urgent situations.
  • Use exceptional communication skills to provide excellent customer service.
  • Prioritises work to meet exact timelines.
  • Can work well under pressure in a 24/7 fast-paced rail environment.
  • Critical thinker who can solve problems and respond calmly when under pressure.
