About the Role:
As Aurizon continues to grow, we are excited to offer a newly created position for a Senior Advisor Safety Risk, and Improvement. This role is pivotal within our Safety, Health, and Environment Division, where you will play a key role in delivering and supporting our assurance activities. Your expertise will help guide various business units in monitoring and managing key risks, facilitating risk assessments, and fostering a culture of safety awareness and understanding across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Safety Assurance: Conduct second-line safety assurance activities and support first- and third-line assurance activities to achieve the objectives of our enterprise safety assurance plan and ensure robust risk management and regulatory compliance across the business
- Facilitate Risk Assessments: Promote a deep understanding of risk management by facilitating assessments and driving risk management awareness and learning across the organisation
- Support Safety Improvement: Assist in the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of safety risk management systems and processes to ensure they are current, effective, and fit-for-purpose
- Facilitate Safety Data and Reporting: Monitor and maintain validity and reliability of safety risk and assurance data and develop periodic and ad-hoc reporting
- Foster a Safety Culture: Provide coaching and support to the broader safety team and Aurizon leaders, cultivating a collaborative and accountable environment that prioritises safety.
About You:
- Risk Management Expertise: You have formal training or equivalent experience in risk management techniques and methods, with a deep understanding of the field
- Assurance Expertise: You have formal training or equivalent experience in developing and delivering audit and assurance programs and activities, with a deep understanding of the field
- Experience: With 3-5 years of experience in safety risk management, risk advisory or safety auditing, you are well-versed in the practical aspects of the job
- Legislative Knowledge: You possess substantial knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements across all Australian states. Note: Working knowledge of Rail Safety National Law is an advantage
- Communication Skills: Your strong interpersonal and communication skills enable you to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels either in-person or online
- Mentorship Abilities: You have experience in coaching and mentoring, helping others grow and succeed in their roles
- Must be able to travel interstate as needed.
