About the role:

The Regional Operations Leader plays a major role in the day to day running of Aurizon's Rockhampton rail operations by providing frontline leadership to enable the safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of train services to our customers.

    • Champion a safety culture to promote our “I know SAFE I choose SAFE” approach.
    • Manage allocated yard and traincrew operations.
    • Implement business improvement initiatives to reduce asset cycle times and improve train payloads.
    • Provide active crewing levels to support the provision of rostering and scheduling services.
    • Build positive workplace relationships with allocated team including setting and monitoring of performance standards and behavioural standards.
    • Take responsibility for incident investigations.
    • Ensure optimum driving methodologies are being adhered to by regularly reviewing locomotive downloads.

About you: 

    • CERT IV/Diploma in Frontline Management (preferred)
    • Well-developed safety management skills and knowledge, including incident investigation.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills including task assignment, communication and problem solving.
    • Ability to effectively engage team members, establish and sustain relationships, set clear direction and provide coaching.
    • Detailed understanding, or capacity to learn, train handling and provisioning procedures, network route knowledge, safe working systems and personnel deployment practices.
    • Customer relationship management skills.
    • Proven commercial acumen.
